THE ENGLISH-SPEAKING WORLD: A CULTURAL PROJECT

Imagen
THE ENGLISH-SPEAKING WORLD: A CULTURAL PROJECT Students have to develop a research project about an English-speaking country, which is not one the most famous ones (USA, UK, Canada, Australia...).  These are the steps to be followed: 1- Form your group (2-3 people maximum). 2- Choose a country from the list provided in the Genially used by the teacher to explain the project.  https://view.genial.ly/6616af3fe6512b0014ac6a3c/presentation-the-english-speaking-world 3- Divide the work among the members of your group creating a Genially and sharing it with every person, so all of you can work simultaneously. Make sure that you include all the aspects stated in the presentation (main cities, sightseeings, currency, typical food, etc.). _________________________________________________________________________________ In order to form the groups, students are allowed to choose their partners as they are usually well-behaved and work more comfortably when they can choose their o...

FINAL TASK: A TIMELINE FOR WORLD BOOK DAY

Imagen
HI THERE! We are approaching to the end of this great course, where we have been able to learn and experience using different websites to make our teaching more motivating for our students.  For this final task, I have inspired myself in the task developed by one of the colleagues that have taken part in the course and to whom I have commented in one of the tasks to be done. This is the link of the original task: Exploring Roald Dahl's Life and Works with TimeToast Because of the close celebration of the World Book Day (23rd April) , I will ask my students from the 4th Year of Compulsory Secondary Education to choose one of the most relevant English-speaking writers of all times from a list that I will provide to them.  Then, they will have to create a timeline using TimeToast about the person they have chosen in order to include the most significant works of that writer. In this way, they will learn about English literature while improving their digital competence w...

STORY JUMPER

https://www.storyjumper.com/class/books/5715331 I am currently working on an Erasmus project with a partner school in Germany. Our pupils have had to develop different tasks so far to get to know each other such as a profile exchange, a video to introduce themselves and their families, and as the last activity prior to our mobility, we have decided to create an eBook using the Story Jumper app, so we can present our projects there easily without needing to carry anything with us to the trip. Students participating in the project have been given different topics to choose from such as environmental issues in their area, traditional festivities and gastronomy, etc. The task has just been set, so I do not have any final products to share yet, but the instructions have been the following: - They are allowed to work individually, in pairs or in small groups. - First, they have been shown the app and the topics have been offered so that they are all covered and we can show our German partner...

USING TIMETOAST IN CLASS

Timelines are a powerful and interesting tool to use in class with students. This is a multiphase process in which students first have to do some research about a specific topic. Afterwards, they will add pictures including the dates required to present their discoveries in very visual way. This website can help them to present some projects in front of the class as a tool to support them and help the others follow their mates´ presentation more easily. This one could be an example provided to students as a guideline in the case that the instructions given to them were about researching about their favourite movie saga and explain their favourite movie among them: https://www.timetoast.com/timelines/marvel-word Most of the students are keen on superheros films; therefore, this can motivate them to initiate their research.

EDPUZZLE

https://edpuzzle.com/assignments/6553a95b3ed1103ff23ab24d/students https://edpuzzle.com/assignments/6553a95b3ed1103ff23ab24d/watch I have sent this task to my students so they can have a first approach to the Future Perfect Continuous and the Future Perfect Simple. They had to take notes of the explanation to bring to the next class and answer to some questions throughout the video so that they can show their understanding on the topic and I could check it as well. This tool is very useful as students come to the class knowing something about the grammar or whatever topic that is going to be taught in school, but also because it leaves plenty of time to work and practice during the lesson, without wasting time in long explanations.

READING FOR PLEASURE

READING AS A WAY OF LIFE In my life, I'm an avid reader. I love talking about my favorite books and I'm always on the lookout for exciting new reads. To me, reading is more than just a hobby, it's an important part of my daily life. I enjoy immersing myself in different worlds and learning new things with every book I read. What I enjoy most is sharing my recommendations with friends and family. I love seeing how they get excited about the stories I recommend to them. In summary, being an avid reader is just part of who I am. It brings me joy and gives me a way to escape from the daily routine.
